🎣 Fishing permits for the Möll in Carinthia
In Carinthia you need two permits:
- Basic fishing permit or fishing exam/license
- For the general fishing license (landesweit), you must have a fishing exam recognized by the state of Carinthia (via the Carinthian Fishing License)
- You obtain this license by taking a theoretical exam and it is valid annually.
- Tourist permit (Gastfischerkarte)
- Specifically for the Möll, you can purchase a day, week, or season ticket via platforms such as hejfish.com or directly from local sales points, such as tourist information offices or fishing shops.
- A temporary e-license will be confirmed by email after purchase, so you can start fishing right away.

🗺️ Fishing ponds & lakes nearby
Visvijver Lendorf & Mühldorf
These are typical recreational ponds with mixed fish species (bass, carp, bream).
They are small-scale, accessible and ideal for families or novice fishermen.
Visstek Obervellach
Obervellach is situated along the Möll, so here you can fly-fish for trout and grayling along the river.
Fishing permits available locally from tourist offices.
Goggausee (bij Steuerberg)
Not far from Obervellach is the Goggausee, a protected lake. Here you can find, among other things:
- Bass, carp, pike, catfish, and zander. A state fishing license is required here. Licenses can be purchased online or locally.
Gösselsdorfer See
Situated a little further south, this lake contains:
Perch, carp, pike, catfish, bream and other whitefish.
- Guest permit for the Möll: purchase via hejfish.com or from the Lendorf/Obervellach tourist office (day and week passes).
- Landlicensing: exam/licensing via the Carinthian Fishing Association.
- For ponds and lakes: a combination of a land license and, if necessary, specific day vouchers, available through fishing shops and tourism agencies.
- Local advice: ask for current information on fishing spots, seasonal regulations, and permit prices upon arrival.
